The Department of Inspection of Factories and Institutions' attorney, Khurshid Alam Khan, asserted, "We have provided documentation and proof to support every allegation made against Dr. Yunus. We therefore anticipate the worst penalty possible."
These cases often have their hearings concluded in three to four months. However, the accused addressed the high court on multiple occasions, pleading for the case to be prolonged. They were all fired," he declared.
However, Abdullah Al Mamun, the attorney for Dr. Yunus, asserts that these businesses have not followed the proper procedure for bringing a labor law action.
"The case filed by the factories department cannot be a criminal case," he says.
He went on to say that the outcome would be different if the circumstances were to change right now.
The date of decision in this case has been set by the Labor Court of Dhaka for January 1.
